We Call The Earth
Take your hand and put it mine,
It is warm there and you will not fall,
For I will hold you if you slip,
On this icy surface we call the earth,
For you are fragile, but so am I,
We hold each other up to stop up sinking,
Into the soft ground we call the earth.
Sit by the fire, it will warm you up,
I can see you freezing in the back of your mind,
Your eyes are dazed and your face pale,
I save you from this thing we call the earth
Friends are weird things.
They come into your life and make
your face light up.
When they leave, your face falls,
and you feel a sense of guilt.
What did I do wrong?
Was it my fault?
Friends are special things.
You spend your life talking, making plans,
laughing, crying.
You make unforgettable memories
and you make some you would rather forget.
But there is an unbreakable bond.
Friends are tough things.
Tough to judge, tough to keep.
But when you catch one,
You never ever let it go,
Even if they let you go.
Friends are incredible things.
They will be there in your
times of need.
They will share your passions
Even if they can't relate.
Friends should be kind and gentle things.
But sometimes they hurt.
We all do it,
not always realising it,
but the smallest thing,
can touch the biggest part of your heart,
in both a good,
or bad way.
You need friends to live,
To live well,
To live happily,
Healthily.
Then why,
Do we put ourselves,
Into situations,
Where we aren't happy,
When we really are.
One little thing.
One tiny thing.
Can touch the biggest part
of someone's heart.
Think.
Think.
Think.

Dear My Younger Self | A Post with Earnest
Earnest, a company providing students with a better way to repay student loans, created an advice project with a letter giving advice to students! I thought it was a great opportunity to write my younger self a letter. Although I am only 17, I think that there are many things I wish I had known before I started college and the last year of school. Here is my letter to my younger self.

Dear Katie,
Seventeen has come round quite quickly and it is safe to say there are many things I had not prepared or thought would ever happen. There are things you don't think will happen that do and thoughts that go through your head which you think are ridiculous, yet you still consider them.
For example, I would have never thought that the options that I chose for college would be ones that I would enjoy. Back when I was younger, I never would have even considered law as an option, but now I love it and I am doing weirdly well. Right now, the dream is to go to Royal Holloway, part of the University of London, to study music. It has been a dream for quite a while now but to study at such a prestigious place would be amazing.
In other news, I am friends with some of the most amazing people you can get. Back in year 7,8,9 I would have never ever have thought that I would be friends with those who I am with today. In July, I am going to Montreux, Switzerland with 6 of them for the week and I am more than excited. I would have never thought I would be going on holiday with my friends, in my entire life.
And to be here, sitting and writing about things that I want to write about. It is incredible that I am able to share my thoughts and my loves with you all. To be able to get a company to email me and allow me to do posts like this, small or bigger, if so special and I value it highly.
So, younger me, look forward to the life you have ahead. Don't worry about leaving school because it is better than you will ever think and you will have the time of your life, although you had to leave some people behind in the process.
So good luck, past me, for your future, I know what it is like and all I can say is that your inspirations will only grow and you love for tea, sheep and Meryl Streep (unintentional rhyming) will be bigger than ever.
So much love,
Katie

Thank you to Earnest for asking me to write this. It is such a good idea and so refreshing to write to yourself and explain to yourself where you did things right and where you went wrong.

New Years Resolutions 2017
As you may have noticed, this is the first post on my new blog. I used to own Katieswaytohappy, but I thought it was time for a change, so I started this brand new blog, where I can still share what I think and what I love, but on a blog that I am happy to write. I hope you like this blog because I do and I also hope you enjoy my new year's resolutions!
- Exercise - I never seem to keep exercising for a long amount of time. To be honest, I hate sport and I am not very good at it but I really do need to make a push at getting fitter because I have noticed small things like climbing stairs or running short distances puts me out of breath, which isn't good, as a flute player and singer and in any other capacity.
- Cutting down on my sugar intake - Ever since I started college, it has become increasingly easy to pop down to the co-op and buy food. Most of the time, it is doughnuts or sweets or fizzy drinks, as they are always on offer. I need to become more restrained and go for the healthier options, which will still fill me up but will also do me good.
- I have decided to give something up every month, for a month. So, for example, this month, I have given up coffee and alcohol. I don't really drink anyway, but I thought I would put that in as well anyway. It's very easy for me to drink a coffee whilst a work or sit in Costa with a gingerbread latte, so I thought I would change that and cut my coffee intake for the month completely. This year could be interesting, as some of the stuff I will be giving up is very hard to do, in my opinion, but that is exactly why I need to do it!
- Stop spending so much money and save some instead. Every month, I am going to save 15% of the income I earn, which will be different every month, as the amount of hours I work is changeable. For example, this month, I will be saving £32, approximately. If I did that every month to save up for something bigger, like my trip to Montreux, Switzerland, in the summer, that will come to quite a large amount because my hours increase a bit every month, as I can work extra shifts in holidays etc.
- REVISE! - I need to get into the habit of doing this again because all of my motivation disappeared during the summer, which is one of the reasons why I restarted my blog. I want to do well in my exams, and that is the way I can do it.
